What is the hardest part of dog training? Consistency.
As humans, we are always expecting instant solutions. Our brains have been crisscrossed to expect instantaneous results throughout numerous aspects of life. We are so used to being able to answer everyday problems in seconds through google, we get dopamine hits from watching short videos on social media and so on. These quick fixes are addicting.
Training your dog takes time and so many people have difficulty understanding this. Not only does it take time, but it’s an adaptation of your lifestyle. Let’s be honest, change is HARD! Many people give up on training because they don’t notice an immediate change. Give yourself and your dog time to adapt. After all, we are both creatures of habit.
One training session will not entirely fix your dog. You will NEVER have success if you are only intentional with your dog for one hour a day and letting undesired behaviors slide in the other 23 hours of the day, I pinky swear. Just like when raising children, you have to be intentional nearly all the time. Now this idea of training your dog 24/7 sounds exhausting, but it’s truly not complicated. Reinforce behaviors you desire, correct behaviors you don’t desire. It takes roughly 66 days to form a new habit, keep at it. You are doing GREAT!
Happy Training,
Bree ❤️
